Unwinding of Continuous Medicaid Coverage Among Patients at Community Health Centers

Abstract

The US Families First Coronavirus Response Act of the COVID-19 pandemic required states to provide continuous Medicaid coverage to receive additional federal funding. In April 2023, the Consolidated Appropriations Act required states to resume standard redeterminations, with large initial decreases in Medicaid enrollment. We studied a large national network of community health centers to assess Medicaid disenrollment during the first 6 months after the end of continuous enrollment.
